StarCrossed: Get Ready to Emotionally Regulate During the New Moon in Pisces
More like anxiety savings time, am I right?
StarCrossed follows a hobby that keeps my passion for reading and research alive—astrology and astronomy. My love for the Universe goes beyond the spiritual and includes the scientific wonders of space.
Ready for daylight savings time? I’m still not used to this tradition in the United States, and moving the clock messes up my schedule every single time. It takes me weeks to adjust. This year, the adjustment might take longer. Moments after daylight savings time begins, the last new moon of the Pisces season—and the current astrological year—will occur today, March 10.
Corresponding with September 2015
This upcoming new moon in Pisces and its following full moon is similar to a lunar event on September 27, 2015. They lead to lunar eclipses of supermoons. The new moon on March 10 is the last new moon of the winter season and leads to the biggest supermoon of 2024.
The one in 2015 crossed Earth’s shadow in Pisces and was thought to signify the end of the world as we knew it or a rebirth. This blood supermoon eclipse was also a harvest moon and the end of a series of four blood moon eclipses that began in 2014. A blood moon is just another term for a total lunar eclipse. And even though lunar eclipses are not uncommon, having a series of four blood moons is very rare. The last one before the series that started in 2014 happened in 1967. The next one will be next year, on March 14, 2025. I wasn’t as into astrology then as I am now, but I remember thinking that maybe the universe was trying to tell us something.
Think of what was happening in the world and your life in 2015. What has changed and what hasn’t? Now, change your perspective: What hasn’t changed that needs to change? What did you change that didn’t need changing? Maybe it’s worth making mountains out of molehills and molehills out of mountains during this period. Squeeze and shrink and supersize your emotions—let them take you as far as you can go when you consider every single part of your life and how it’s changed in almost 10 years.
Learning from 2024’s Pisces Season
Pisces is a water sign, the final sign of the zodiac. My father was a Pisces, so while I don’t have it anywhere in my chart, I’m very familiar with it. Pisces energy is all about intuition and a lot less about logic. During this season, we tend to feel before thinking, to receive before reacting, and to imagine before analyzing. We are all logic-blind and trying to find our way to Aries season.
Pisces energy is also tied to creativity, spirituality, mysticism, and magic. This season is also traditionally a time for healing. You may have been resting, retreating from the world, and rethinking what no longer serves you for the past few weeks. When I was growing up in Manila, this time of year coincided with the end of the school term and the start of summer vacation. I am typically happier than usual during this period—it’s in my bones now.
The new astrological year starts on March 19, when we move from Pisces to Aries season, along with the spring equinox. And about a week later, the eclipse season begins. While the days will only get longer and brighter from here on out, would-be manifestors should be wary of this time. Manifesting during eclipse season is not ideal, so this new moon in Pisces is the last time you can work on affirmation and manifestation spells for a while.
Considering the Rest of the Cosmos
As with any zodiac season, it would benefit you to consider what’s changed since the last time it came around. After considering what happened in 2015, look back a little later—2023. What happened in March 2023, and how has the situation improved since then?
You may also want to look a little earlier in 2011 when Neptune entered Pisces. What were you clearing out of your brain, heart, system—life? Did you finish the job, or do you still need to dot the i’s and cross the t’s? As the new moon rolls around, Luna will again be close to Neptune. Listen to your intuition during this time if it hasn’t already been yelling at you for the past few weeks.
You may feel emotionally confused, drained, or overloaded during the new moon—especially since it’s the last one during Pisces season. However, Venus will soon also enter Pisces. This may help lift the fog a little or at least leave you wanting to connect with others instead of wallowing alone.
Remember that last blood moon from September 2015 and how everyone thought it was signaling the world’s end? The same can be said for Saturn, which has been transiting the last sign of the zodiac for the first time since 2015. (Did you catch that? 2015 again.) We moved from one breaking point to another, and it didn’t even take a decade.
Manifesting and Emotionally Regulating During the New Moon
I don’t know about you, but I feel like my soul has been going through a rebirth. I am distant but not delusional, emotional but not overwhelmed, expanding but not afraid of taking up space. I am living the life I want, and my manifestation practice is simply waiting for the rest of my reality to catch up to my expectations. I am grateful for every single day and eternally thankful for each part of my life. I no longer need to maintain surface tension. I am everything, and everything is part of me.
I hope you are on a similar path. Let’s talk more astrology soon—maybe about the upcoming solar eclipse in April.
