Mátulain is not just a series focusing on my poetry—instead, it follows my continuing love story with the art. Full disclosure: This is something I wrote on May 3, 2020.
Future Tense
No one wants to think about tomorrow—what “tomorrow”?— when today is hard enough. No one promised us a future quite like the one that’s unfolding in the year 2020. No one told doomsday preppers that masks and bleach would be more useful than guns and go bags. No one warned the privileged few that power doesn’t come with a physical immunity to a pandemic. No one expected community and kindness and caring to be the only currencies worth counting on. No one is coming out of this unscathed. Maybe no one will come out of this at all. No one knows.
